About

Richard Sands is Constellation’s chairman of the board. Richard is responsible for providing strategic leadership, working with the board of directors and the president to establish long-range goals, strategies, plans and policies.

Richard has been with Constellation in various capacities since 1979. He was elected Chairman of the Board in September 1999. He served as Chief Executive Officer from October 1993 to July 2007; as President from May 1986 to December 2002; as Chief Operating Officer from May 1986 to October 1993; and as Executive Vice President from 1982 to May 1986.  

Richard serves as Chairman for the Education Success Network, Friends of CMAC, and of the F-CMAC Executive Committee. He serves on RIT and University of Rochester’s Board of Trustees. Richard serves as treasurer and board member for the local non-for-profit Canandaigua Area Development Corporation, and acts as a trusted advisor to BCG consulting on the Finger Lakes Regional Council’s poverty initiatives.
